We do not bill insurance directly at this time. We operate on a private-pay basis, which allows us to spend more time with each client, avoid the limitations insurance companies often place on treatment (such as visit caps or approved exercises), and design a plan based entirely on your needs and goals rather than what's covered.

No, you generally do not need a referral to start physical therapy with us. Because we are a cash-pay clinic and do not accept insurance, you can schedule an appointment and begin treatment immediately.
However, under New York State law and federal guidelines, there are a few case-by-case exceptions where a doctor's referral or signature is required:
The 10-Visit / 30-Day Limit: New York's Direct Access Law allows you to receive physical therapy without a referral for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. If your plan of care requires treatment beyond that timeline, state law requires a signed prescription or referral from a physician, nurse practitioner, podiatrist, or dentist to continue.
Medicare Beneficiaries: If you are a Medicare patient, federal law requires a physician-certified plan of care to receive physical therapy, even at an out-of-network or cash-pay clinic.
Complex Medical History: If you have a highly complex condition or recent surgical history, we may request a referral or consult with your doctor to ensure the safest and most effective care.
